COMMUNITY VS COMMODITY
In addition to LCSD exclusive variants, ComicsPRO is requesting value-added items like signed bookplates and product tie-in materials - book club materials, release party swag etc.

COOPERATIVE MARKETING
ComicsPRO is facilitating an industry wide social media push from retailers, publishers, and creators to increase awareness of LCSD. "Shop Local. Shop Nerdy. Local Comic Shop Day."

LCSD CATALOG
ComicsPRO will be sending out a catalog of LCSD offerings - exclusives, freebies, backlist sale information, and open order items. We believe this will significantly increase participation from the 2500 eligible retailers. See attached mockup.

EVENT MATERIALS
ComicsPRO is providing extensive materials to help participating retailers host community building events.    (Videos, pre-written press releases, signage and sale ideas, marketing assets, instructions for running kid-friendly scavenger hunts, and much much more).   Here's a sample video, for example, aimed at helping retailers invite creators to their stores.

New Logo for New Direction

The new logo, designed by Tim Daniel, writer and designer known for his work at Vault Comics and independent titles industry-wide spanning the last 20 years, reflects the idea of comic shops as a part of a neighborhood, while also invoking the small business feel.

 

“We asked Tim to redesign our logo to convey a change in direction for Local Comic Shop Day,” said Kate deNeveu, ComicsPRO Director of Operations.  “Retailers want the event to be a celebration of local comic shops and their place in the communities.    Our job at ComicsPRO is to bridge the gap and give participants the tools needed to run a truly successful community-building Local Comic Shop Day.  Tools like pre-written press releases, signage and sale ideas, marketing assets, instructions for running kid-friendly scavenger hunts, and much much more.  ComicsPRO’s greatest strength is the collective knowledge and experience of our members, and this year we’re putting it all to work.”

GOLD

Your logo prominently on LCSD website and marketing materials.

$2,000 cost OR

Send out 200+ goodie boxes to registered store-fronts OR

Offer 1+ exclusive comic or graphic novel limited to our registered store-fronts.


BRONZE

Name of Company on website and some marketing materials.
Offer LCSD open order items.  Not just for registered retailers. OR

Backlist Sale, Discounted graphic novel pre-packs, etc OR

Send out Free Items for registered storefronts- bags, stickers, swag, signed bookplates, bookmarks, etc.

ASKING PUBLISHERS FOR

  • PRINT TO ORDER.  Print to Order/Open Order Items are offered to EVERYBODY. $100 fee per item for LCSD License. $300 for as many items as you want to offer.  (Waived for Publishers who submit 30 second creator videos highlighting item and mentioning Local Comic Shop Day® 2025)
  • LIMITED PRINT ITEMS. These items have a small print run. (500 to 1000 units). They are offered only to LCSD registered store fronts). NO FEE for LCSD licensing on exclusive items.
  • BACKLIST SALES.  Discounted items on backlist product.
  • FREE ITEMS:   Signed bookplates or bookmarks, posters, keychains, stickers, etc. self distributed or through Distributor.


DEADLINES

  • June 2 - Deadline to submit items to the catalog.
  • July 23 - Recommended FOC 
  • September 27 - LCSD Event


We are working with Distributors to get publishers exact dates.

1.    Look at the catalog mock up. Decide what you want to feature for LCSD and what your participation will be. Marco and Kate are available to discuss sponsorship and best strategies for fulfillment.

2.    Send your item/freebie/sale information to Marco or Kate by June 2.

3.    Distribution: You will need to reach out to your Vendor Coordinators, and let them know what you plan to provide in the way of promotional material /Exclusives/Sales for the event.
